ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Truck system

So, imagine you're at a candy store and you want to buy some candy. You see all kinds of candy like gummy bears, lollipops, and chocolate bars. But you don't have any money.

Now imagine that instead of money, the candy store owner gave you a piece of paper that says how much candy you can get later. That paper is called a "credit".

That's kind of how a truck system works. In the past, some people didn't have money to pay for the things they needed, like food or clothes. So, the person who provided those things, like a farm or a store, would give them "credits" instead of money.

Those credits could be used to pay for things they needed, but only at certain places. Sometimes, the people who gave them the credits would also make them work for free or for very little money, and they couldn't leave until they paid off all the credits they owed.

This was a very unfair system that made it hard for people to get ahead and have a better life. Thankfully, laws were put in place that made the truck system illegal, and people can now use money to pay for the things they need without being stuck in a bad situation.
