Tumpline

A tumpline is a special strap that goes around a person's forehead and allows them to carry heavy objects, like a big basket, on their back. It's like having an extra strong neck or headband!

When someone wants to use a tumpline, they first put the strap around their forehead and adjust it so it feels comfortable. Then, they attach the basket or other heavy object to the tumpline and lift it up onto their back. The strap helps distribute the weight of the basket evenly across the person's body so it doesn't hurt their shoulders, arms, or neck.

People have been using tumplines for a very long time, especially in places where they need to carry heavy loads for long distances. Some people even like using tumplines because it allows them to carry heavier loads than they could with just their hands, and it helps them avoid hurting their back or shoulders.

So, think of a tumpline like a special headband that helps people carry super heavy things on their back without hurting themselves!
