ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Turkic peoples

Turkic peoples are a group of people who share a common culture and language. They live in many different countries, but originally they come from the region of Central Asia.

Just like how your family or friends may have some things in common like the same language or traditions, Turkic peoples have things in common like their language and their way of life.

Hundreds of years ago, people who spoke Turkic languages were part of big empires like the Ottoman Empire and the Mongol Empire. These empires were made up of many different kinds of people, but the Turkic people had a big influence on the empires' language and culture.

Today, there are millions of Turkic people spread out all over the world. Some live in Turkey, some in Russia, some in China, and others in other parts of Central Asia. They all have their own unique traditions and ways of life, but they can all understand each other because they speak similar languages.
