When you play a game, there are different ways that you and your friends can take turns. In some games, you go at the same time as your friends, and everyone does things all at once. But in turn-based games, you take turns one after another.
For example, imagine you and your friend are playing a board game. You roll the dice, move your piece, and then your friend rolls and moves their piece. You have to wait for your friend to finish before it's your turn again. That's turn-based!
In video games, turn-based games are similar. When it's your turn, you get to make a move or an action, like attacking a monster or using a special item. Then, the game waits for the other player or computer to do their turn. This goes back and forth until the game is over.
Turn-based games are great because they let everyone take their time and plan out their moves. If you take too long to make a decision, it's okay because everyone else has to wait for their turn too!
