Twentieth Century Communism

Communism is a type of government that was popular in the twentieth century. In this system, the government owns everything, from factories and shops to farms and homes. People don't have to buy things anymore because the government gives everyone in the country a job and a home. The government also makes sure that everyone has enough food, clothes, and other basic necessities. Everyone gets a share of the money that the country makes so that everyone has the same amount of money to spend. It sounds like a great idea but it didn't work out very well in the twentieth century. In many countries that had communism, the people suffered because the government was too powerful and it was hard to get basic things like food and medicine.
