ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

UNIFAC

Okay, so imagine you have a bunch of different liquids, like water, oil, and alcohol. These liquids are made up of tiny little things called molecules. Each molecule is made up of even tinier things called atoms.

Now, some molecules like to stick together more than others. For example, water molecules love to stick together and form droplets, while oil and water don't like to stick together at all.

Unifac is a special way that scientists use to figure out how different molecules will stick together. They look at all the different types of atoms in each molecule and how they like to stick to each other. They use special formulas to calculate exactly how strong those bonds will be.

With the help of unifac, scientists can figure out how different liquids will mix together. This is really important for things like making medicines, cleaning products, and even designing rocket fuel. Without unifac, it would be much harder to predict how different molecules will interact with each other.
