Ukrainian cuisine

Ukrainian cuisine is the traditional food of the people of Ukraine. It is based on warmth, freshness, and simplicity of ingredients. Some of the main ingredients and flavors used in Ukrainian cooking include cabbage, potatoes, mushrooms, dill, pampushky (yeast-raised buns), borscht (beet soup), dumplings, and varenyky (filled dumplings). Ukrainian cuisine relies heavily on vegetables, dairy products, and grains. They also eat a lot of fish, poultry, pork, and beef. Traditional dishes originated from the local region and farmers and are simple, but still full of flavor. A popular combination is to serve boiled potatoes with fried onions and lard or sour cream. Dishes can also include eggs, cheese, sauerkraut, and pickles. Ukrainian cuisine is good for you because it consists mostly of fresh, healthy ingredients.
