ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Underground living

You know how you have a room in your house where you sleep and play? Well, some people like to have their rooms underground, which means they live under the ground. Just like moles!

But how do they do that? First, they dig a big hole in the ground, like you do when you build a sandcastle at the beach. Then they make walls and a roof with something called concrete or bricks. It's kind of like building a house, but underground instead of above the ground.

But why would they want to live underground? There are many reasons! Sometimes it's because the weather is too hot or too cold outside, and it's cooler and more comfortable underground. Sometimes it's because they want to be safe from things like storms, earthquakes, or other dangers. And sometimes it's just because it's fun or different!

So when people live underground, they have everything they need just like in a regular house. They have rooms to sleep, cook, eat, and play in. They have electricity and plumbing, just like your house. They might even have windows or skylights that let in some light from the sun.

So that's how people can live underground, and why they might choose to do so. It's kind of like living in a secret cave, or a cozy burrow like a friendly little mole.
