Okay kiddo, imagine you want to send a message to your friend, but you don't want anyone else to see it. So, you put the message in a really small envelope and seal it shut. That's kind of what scientists do with unilamellar liposomes, but instead of a message, they put medicine inside.
Now, the liposome is made up of two parts: the inner part, where the medicine is, and the outer part, which is like a tiny bag. But, the bag is really smart because it's made up of only one layer of molecules, kind of like a super-thin piece of paper.
This thin layer makes it really easy for the medicine to get out of the liposome and into your body, almost like how water can easily soak through a tissue.
So, unilamellar liposomes are tiny little bags that can hold medicine and are really good at delivering that medicine to where it needs to go. And, because they're so small, your body doesn't have a hard time getting rid of them after they've delivered the medicine.
