ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Unique name assumption

Ok, imagine that every kid in your class has a name, right? But now imagine if everyone in the whole world had a name! That would be a lot of names to remember!

So, when we talk about the unique name assumption, we mean that we assume that everyone in the world has a different name! It's like a rule that says no two people can have the same name.

This is really important when we're trying to keep track of people, like when we're filling out forms or making a list of names. We need to make sure that we're talking about the right person when we use their name.

But sometimes, this assumption isn't true! For example, there might be two people in the world with the same name, or someone might change their name or use a nickname that's different from their real name.

So even though we assume that everyone has a different name, we still need to be careful and make sure we're talking about the right person!
