ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Unit 731

Unit 731 was a secret lab in Japan during World War II. It was a place where Japanese scientists did experiments to try and figure out how to make Japanese soldiers healthier and stronger. They did some very cruel experiments on people, including cutting them open to see how their organs worked, and infecting them with diseases like plague and cholera so they could see what would happen. They also had prisoners of war from China and other countries in the lab, which they used as test subjects for their experiments. These experiments were wrong and cruel, and the people who did them should not have done them.
