United States presidential elections in Missouri

So, when grown-ups in Missouri want to decide who is going to be the boss of the whole United States, they have to vote in something called the Presidential Election. This happens every 4 years and the candidates who want to be the boss are called the Presidential nominees.

To vote, grown-ups have to go to a special place called a polling station. They have to be registered to vote before they can do this.

Once they arrive at the polling station, they are given a paper called a ballot. This is like a test where they have to circle the name of the person they want to vote for.

In the United States, voting is a private and personal decision, so nobody has to say out loud who they are voting for.

After all the grown-ups have voted, the votes are counted up and the person with the most votes becomes the boss of the whole United States. In Missouri, there is something called the Electoral College which helps to decide who wins. This is like a group of grown-ups who vote on behalf of all the people in Missouri.

Finally, once the votes are counted, the new President is sworn in and begins their job of leading the country for the next 4 years.
