United States v. Approximately 64,695 Pounds of Shark Fins
Okay so, imagine if you really like sharks. You think they're cool and want to learn more about them. But some bad people are killing lots and lots of sharks just to cut off their fins and sell them for money. This is not good because the sharks need their fins to swim and survive in the ocean.
The government found out about this and wanted to stop it. So they did something called a "legal case" where they went to court and tried to prove that it was wrong for people to keep selling and buying these shark fins. The government had to prove that the shark fins were being sold by people who were breaking the law.
They found 64,695 pounds (that's a LOT) of shark fins that they said were being sold illegally. The court agreed with the government and said that those shark fins couldn't be sold anymore. This means that they saved the lives of many sharks and helped protect our oceans!
