ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Universal library

Okay kiddo, have you ever been to a library? A library is a big room full of books - books about stories, history, science, and lots of other things. A universal library is like a huge library, but it's not just one room. It's a big, big place where you can find all the books in the world, from every country and every time, and you can read them all, even if you can't travel all over the world.

Now, even though a universal library is so cool, it's not really a physical place. It's mostly an idea. The idea is to have all the books, documents, and information in the world available to everyone for free. That way, everyone can learn and grow and have access to everything that's important.

Now, how are we going to get all the books in the world to one place? Well, we have the internet! We can use the internet to create a digital library, where we can put digital copies of all the books online. This way, everyone can read every book ever written, from anywhere in the world, without having to travel.

But, the problem is still that not every book is digitized yet. This means that someone still has to take a physical book and make a digital copy of it. This also means that some books may not be available yet, but as technology improves, more books will become available.

So, a universal library is an idea where we can put all the books and information from all over the world into one digital library, so that everyone can learn from and access the same books, documents, and information.
