ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Upstep

Okay kiddo, so you know when you are walking and you lift up your foot to take a step forward? Well, sometimes when people dance, they do something called an upstep. This means they lift up their foot and put it down on the same spot, but higher up than it was before.

Imagine you have a toy car and you want to make it go up a ramp. The upstep is like the ramp, and your foot is like the toy car. You lift your foot up and then put it back down but a little bit higher, like the toy car going up the ramp.

People do upsteps in different ways depending on the dance, but it's a cool move that helps make the dance look more interesting and fun to watch. And that's what upstep means, my little dancing friend!
