Uranium in the environment

Uranium is a kind of rock that can be found in the ground all around the world. It's kind of like coal or sand. It is special because it can be used to make energy, like electricity. That's why it's mined out of the ground and sent to power plants.

But when uranium is found in the environment, it isn't usually good for us. That's because uranium can be toxic if we come into contact with it. It can make people become sick, and it can make animals and plants die.

So it's important to keep uranium away from areas where people and animals live. If uranium is found in the environment, people have to be careful to make sure it doesn't get into our water, air, or food and make us sick.
