When a baby grows in its mommy's tummy, it grows inside a special place called a uterus. This uterus is also called the womb, and it's where the baby gets all the food and oxygen it needs to grow until it's big enough to be born.
Sometimes, a mommy might not have a uterus or her uterus might not work properly. This means she can't have a baby grow inside of her. But, doctors have found a way to help mommies who can't have babies by transplanting a healthy uterus from another woman into the mommy who needs it.
When a mommy is going to get a uterus transplant, she first goes to the hospital and talks to the doctors to make sure she is healthy enough for the surgery. Then, the mommy waits for a special uterus from a woman who has died and donated her organs.
During the surgery, the doctors carefully remove the uterus from the donor's body and put it inside the mommy who needs it. After the surgery, the mommy has to take special medicine to make sure her body doesn't reject the new uterus.
If everything goes well, the mommy's body and the new uterus will grow together and she will be able to have a baby just like any other mommy with a working uterus.
