Vaginal seeding is when tiny particles from the mother's vagina are put on a baby's skin or in their mouth right after they're born. This is done to try and give the baby good bacteria that they would have gotten if they were born naturally through the mom's vagina. Normally, babies born naturally through the vagina get lots of good bacteria from their mom that helps them have a healthy immune system. But sometimes, babies are born through a C-section and they miss out on getting those bacteria. So, some doctors and parents have decided to try giving the baby the bacteria by doing vaginal seeding. However, there is not enough scientific evidence to say if this is safe or actually works. So, for now, it's only done in certain situations when the parents really think it's important.
