Vaginal support structures

Ok kiddo, today we are going to talk about something called vaginal support structures.

Do you know where your pee comes from? Yes, it comes from a special hole called the urethra, which is located in the front of your body.

Now, do you know where babies come from? Yes, they come out of a special hole called the vagina, which is located below your belly button.

Inside your body, the vagina is supported by special structures that help keep it in place and hold it up. These structures are kind of like a hammock or a support system that holds up the weight of the organs inside your body, like the bladder, uterus, and rectum.

Some of these support structures are made of muscles, while others are made of something called connective tissue. Connective tissue is like the glue that holds all of your body's tissues together.

When these support structures weaken or stretch out too much, it can cause something called pelvic organ prolapse. This means that your organs can start to bulge out of your vagina, which can be uncomfortable and even painful.

Fortunately, there are treatments available to help strengthen these support structures and prevent pelvic organ prolapse. Some of these treatments include exercises to strengthen the muscles, surgery to repair the connective tissue, or special devices that support the vaginal walls.

So, now you know a little bit more about vaginal support structures and how important they are for keeping your body healthy and comfortable!
