A Venus Flytrap is a plant that eats bugs! It is different from other plants because it has special leaves that can snap shut like a trap when it feels something crawling on it. The leaves are divided into two parts that are hinged in the middle like a clam. The leaves have little hairs on the inside that are sensitive to touch. When a bug crawls on the leaf and touches these hairs, the trap closes quickly to trap the bug inside. The hairs then send a message to the plant that it has caught something and it slowly digests the bug to get the nutrients it needs. The Venus Flytrap is a cool plant that is fun to watch, but remember not to touch the leaves too much or it could get tired and not catch bugs anymore.
