Victimology

Victimology is the study of crime victims. A crime victim is someone who has experienced harm from a crime, such as physical harm, financial losses, or psychological suffering.
Victimologists help us understand why some people experience more harm from a crime than others. They look at things like how old a person is, where they live, their gender, and what kind of job they have to try and figure out who is likely to become a victim of a crime. They also work to make sure that victims get the help they need and that justice is served.
