When we watch movies or videos, we see different scenes happening one after another. Video editing is like putting together a puzzle made of all these different scenes. Imagine you have a collection of pictures that you want to put in a story book. You need to arrange the pictures in a certain order and add some words to explain what is happening in each picture. In video editing, we do the same thing except with moving pictures (videos) instead of still pictures.
First, we need to have footage- that is the name for all the videos that we will use to create our final video. Sometimes we shoot the footage ourselves, and other times we use footage from other places.
Next, we choose the best footage to include in the final product. This is like picking which pictures we want in our storybook.
Then, we put the footage together in order to tell a story or to convey information. This is like arranging the pictures in a specific order in our storybook.
We can also add different effects and transitions between the scenes to make it more interesting. Think about how sometimes when you turn a page in a story book, there's a cool visual effect that happens as the pictures change.
We can also add audio, like music or sound effects, to make the video more engaging. The audio is like the background music that we hear when we're reading a storybook.
Lastly, we need to make sure that everything looks good and that the video is easy to understand. This is like checking to make sure that our storybook is easy to read and makes sense.
Video editing can take a lot of time, but the end result is a cool video that tells a story or teaches us something new!
