Viy (story)

Viy is a spooky story from Russia. It is about a young man named Khoma who was walking through a dark forest one night. He came upon a group of witches who were having a wild party. They saw Khoma and they wanted to get him. They chased him until he found a house to hide in.

The house belonged to an old woman who was dying. She asked Khoma to say prayers over her body for three nights and promised to pay him well. The first two nights went smoothly, but on the third night, something strange happened. The old woman's body rose from the bed and started to fly around the room. The dead old woman was actually a witch named Viy.

Khoma was terrified and tried to run away, but the witch caught him. She rode him through the forest and across rivers until they came to a graveyard. The witch forced Khoma to say prayers over all the graves before she would let him go.

Finally, Khoma was able to escape and ran back to his village, but he was never the same again. He couldn't forget what had happened to him and became very scared of witches and supernatural beings.

So, the story of Viy is about a young man who got caught up in a spooky adventure with a witch named Viy in a dark forest. He survived but was scared for the rest of his life.
