Voice over IP (VoIP) is a way of making phone calls using the Internet instead of a regular phone line. It works like this: You plug a special VoIP box into your Internet router. Whenever you make a phone call, your voice is converted into a digital signal and sent over the Internet. At the other end, someone's VoIP box receives the signal and converts it back into their voice. It's like sending a letter through the mail, but much faster.
