Volunteer computing

Volunteer computing is a way for people to help scientists do research by letting scientists use their computers to do calculations and solve problems. Scientists use volunteer computing because it helps them do research faster and cheaper than they can do it by themselves. People who volunteer their computers are like being a volunteer at a science lab - they are helping out by donating their resources to do an important job.
