A wagonway is a type of railway track that was used hundreds of years ago to move heavy things from one place to another. Wagonways were made out of wooden planks and were built on top of the ground. They had rails just like modern railways, but they were made out of wood instead of steel. Wagons, which were like really big carts, were placed on top of these wooden rails and were pushed by horses or pulled by cables or ropes. The wagonways were not only used for work, but also for transportation and fun. People would ride in the wagons for rides, much like you would ride on a roller coaster today.
