War hawk

Okay kiddo, imagine you and your friend are playing a game of tag. You want to catch your friend really badly, but they keep running away and you can't seem to catch them.

Now, imagine this scenario on a bigger scale, with countries instead of friends. Sometimes, one country wants to catch or control another country, and they might use force, like fighting, to do it. This is called a war.

Some people in a country might really want to go to war with another country. They're called war hawks. They think going to war is a good idea, and they're willing to use force to get what they want.

But not everyone thinks going to war is a good idea. Some people think there are better ways to solve problems between countries, like talking things out, making agreements, or using economic pressure (like not buying things from the other country until they agree to something). These people are called doves, because they want peace and harmony instead of war and fighting.

So, a war hawk is someone who wants to go to war with another country to solve a problem, while a dove is someone who does not want to go to war and thinks there are better ways to solve problems.
