Washerwoman

A washerwoman is a person who washes clothes for other people. You know how every time you get dirty from playing, your parents put your clothes in the washing machine to clean them? Well, some grown-ups don't have washing machines or don't have time to wash their clothes. That's where the washerwoman comes in. They take the dirty clothes and wash them in big tubs or basins filled with soapy water, and then rinse them with clean water. Afterwards, they hang the clothes up to dry on a line or sometimes use a machine called a dryer. The washerwoman will fold the clothes neatly and give them back to the owner all clean and fresh smelling!
