Okay, so have you ever seen a big juicy watermelon? It's a round fruit with a green outside and a pink or red inside that's really sweet and yummy to eat on a hot day. But sometimes people use watermelons to say mean things about Black people. That's not nice and it's called a stereotype. A stereotype is when somebody thinks that all people who look a certain way or come from a certain place are the same. They might say things like "Black people love watermelons" which is not true. Just because somebody is Black doesn't mean they like watermelons any more than someone who is not Black. It's important to treat everybody with respect and not make assumptions about them just because of how they look or where they come from.
