Web Map Service

A web map service is a way to display information, usually in the form of a map, over the internet. It usually works by asking a web server for information, like the location of a certain place, and then it displays the data in a map format. For example, if you search for a city on Google Maps, you would be using a web map service to show you the location of that city.
