Welfare biology

Welfare biology is a branch of science that looks at how living things – things like animals, plants and people – can live healthy lives. It studies how to give these things the best chance to be healthy and happy. Scientists who study welfare biology ask questions like:

What things do animals and plants need to be healthy?
What environment helps them grow and stay healthy?
How can we make sure they have enough food, shelter, and space?

Welfare biology also looks at how humans and animals interact, like what activities help them stay healthy mentally and physically (e.g. exercise and play). Scientists who study welfare biology use research and experiments to answer questions and find the best ways to help other living things live healthy lives.
