ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Welfare fraud

Welfare is like a little bit of money each month that the government gives to people who don't have enough money to live. Sometimes people take this money even though they don't need it. This is called welfare fraud. It's like cheating, and it's not fair to the government or to the people who really need that money.

When we go to the store to buy things, we have to pay with money. Welfare fraud is when people use that money to buy things they shouldn't. It's like if you took your allowance and bought candy instead of the things you needed, like clothes or food. You would be wasting your money, and that's not good.

Some people might lie and say they have less money than they really do, so the government gives them more welfare money. That's like lying to your parents about how many toys you have so they'll give you more money for new toys. It's not right to lie like that.

Overall, welfare fraud is when people take money from the government that they don't really need. It's like cheating and not being fair. Everyone should only take what they need, and not try to take more just because they can.
