Criticisms of welfare

Welfare is money or other things that a government gives to people who are poor or who don't have enough money to take care of themselves. People sometimes criticize welfare because they don't think it is the most effective way to help people in need. They say that it can encourage people to not work or be dependent on the government instead of trying to improve their lives. They also say that welfare can be abused, meaning people might use it to get more money than they need or use it for things they shouldn't use it for.
