Welsh holidays

Hey kiddo! So do you know what a holiday is? It's when we take a break from work or school and do special things!

In Wales, they have different holidays than we do in other parts of the world. One of their most important holidays is St. David's Day. Do you know who St. David is? He is the patron saint of Wales! On March 1st, people in Wales celebrate St. David's Day by wearing daffodils and leeks, which are the national symbols of Wales. They also have parades and sing traditional Welsh songs.

Another holiday in Wales is Easter. Just like us, people in Wales celebrate Easter with Easter eggs and bunnies. But did you know they also have a tradition called "Calennig"? It's when children go door-to-door and sing special songs in exchange for candy or coins. Sounds like fun, right?

There's also a holiday called "May Day" in Wales. It's on May 1st and people celebrate by dancing around a Maypole, which is a tall pole decorated with ribbons. They also make flower crowns and have picnics!

Finally, there's a special holiday in Wales called "Eisteddfod". It's a big cultural festival where people come together to celebrate Welsh literature, music, and art. There are competitions for things like poetry and storytelling, and lots of people come to show off their skills.

So that's a little bit about Welsh holidays, kiddo. Just like we have our own special days, people in Wales have their own traditions and celebrations!
