West Nile fever

West Nile Fever is a sickness caused by a virus that mosquitoes can carry. Mosquitoes are those pesky bugs that like to bite us and make us itchy. Sometimes, mosquitoes can pick up the West Nile virus from infected birds and then pass it on to humans and animals when they bite them.

The virus can make you feel sick like you have the flu, with symptoms such as a fever, headache, body aches, and fatigue. Some people may also experience a rash or swollen lymph nodes. But don't worry, most people who get West Nile Fever will recover and feel better on their own without needing to go to the hospital.

However, some people who have weakened immune systems, like older adults or people with certain medical conditions, are at a higher risk of getting seriously ill from the virus. In rare cases, it can even lead to severe illness and even death.

So, it's important to protect yourself from mosquito bites by wearing long sleeves and pants, using insect repellent, and getting rid of any standing water around your house where mosquitoes like to lay their eggs. If you think you might have West Nile Fever or if you're worried about your symptoms, it's always a good idea to talk to your doctor.
