Western music (North America)

Ok kiddo, have you ever listened to music on the radio or sang a song in music class? That's called western music, and it's a type of music that's popular in North America.

Western music has a few different parts that make it special. The first part is the melody. This is the part that you hum or sing along to - it's the tune of the song.

The second part of western music is the rhythm - this is the beat or the tempo of the song. It's like the pattern of the music and it helps you dance or tap your foot along to the song.

Then there are the lyrics - this is the part of the song that tells a story or expresses a feeling. Sometimes the lyrics are happy, sometimes they're sad, and sometimes they're just about having fun.

Western music has been around for a long time. A lot of it comes from English or Irish folk music that came over to North America with immigrants. But over time, it's changed and evolved to become what we hear today.

Different types of western music include country, rock, pop, and hip-hop. Each one has a different sound and style, but they all have those same important parts - melody, rhythm, and lyrics.
