ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wharf

A wharf is like a big playground for boats. It’s like a special spot on the water where boats can come and hang out. Imagine you and your friends going to the playground to play on the swings or the slide. Boats come to the wharf to park next to it and get stuff or people on or off of them, just like how you might come to the playground to meet your friends or have a picnic. The wharf is like an extension of the land – it’s like a walkway that goes out over the water so people can get on and off boats easily. Sometimes the wharf is really long and has a lot of boats tied up to it, and sometimes it’s just a small dock with one or two boats. People who work on the boats or people who want to go out on the water can use the wharf to get where they need to go. So, a wharf is kind of like a special spot on the water where boats come to hang out and do important things.
