ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Windthrow

Hey kiddo! Do you know what windthrow means? No worries, let me explain it to you in a way that you can easily understand.

Windthrow is what happens when really strong wind blows and knocks down trees. Just like how you can push over a tower of blocks if you blow on it really hard, wind can push over trees if it's strong enough.

The wind can also pull trees out of the ground with their roots, which is kind of like picking up a carrot from the garden.

Windthrow can be dangerous because falling trees can hurt people and animals or damage buildings. That's why it's important to stay inside and be cautious when there's a big storm and strong winds.

But you know what's interesting? Windthrow can also be good for the forest because when the trees fall, they create space for new trees and plants to grow. Plus, the fallen trees can provide homes for animals like birds and squirrels!
