Wine in China

Okay kiddo, so we're going to talk about wine in China today! Remember when we had grape juice at dinner and how it tasted really good? Well, some people like to take those grapes and let them ferment and turn into a different kind of drink called wine.

In China, people have actually been making wine for thousands of years! They had a special kind of alcohol called "huangjiu" that they made from rice, and it was very popular for ceremonies and special occasions. But in the last few decades, more people in China have been interested in trying wines from other countries like France, Italy, and Australia.

When people in China first started drinking imported wines, they mostly bought expensive ones as a symbol of wealth and status. But over time, more affordable wines became available, and more people began to appreciate the taste and culture surrounding wine.

Now there are many wine shops and wine bars in Chinese cities where people can go try different kinds of wine. And some Chinese winemakers have even started producing their own wines, using grapes grown in China instead of imported ones.

So there you have it, wine in China is a big deal and has a long history! But don't worry, you can stick to your grape juice for now.
