The Winter War was a war that happened in Europe between two countries called Finland and the Soviet Union. Finland wasn't as big or powerful as the Soviet Union, but they wanted to stay independent, so they decided to fight back against the Soviet Union. The war started in November of 1939 and lasted until March of 1940, which was very cold because it was wintertime. During the war, the Soviet Union used a lot more soldiers than Finland and wanted to take over Finland's land. Finland fought very bravely, but eventually had to agree to the terms of the Soviets and give up some of their land.
