Witch window

Witch window is a name given to a window in a house that is not straight and slants at an angle. Imagine if you drew a square, but instead of all four sides being straight lines, one of the sides is tilting diagonally. This is what a witch window looks like.

They are called witch windows because it was believed that witches can't fly their broomsticks through a crooked window. However, it is just a silly superstition and not true.

Sometimes, these windows were made for practical reasons. For instance, in older houses, the roof eaves would extend over the sides of the house, making it hard to fit a regular window. By tilting the window, they could fit a larger window and still have some natural light come in.

Witch windows are not very common nowadays, but you may still see them in some older homes or buildings. They are not magical or scary, just a unique feature of a house that adds character!
