ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wolf Prize

So, you know how when you do something really cool or impressive, sometimes people give you a prize or award to show you how proud they are? Well, the Wolf Prize is kind of like that, but for grown-ups who are super smart and do really amazing things in science, math, art, and other important fields.

It's named after a guy named Ricardo Wolf, who loved science and math and wanted to encourage other people to love them too. So he started this special prize where each year, a bunch of famous scientists and experts get together and decide who did the coolest, most important stuff in their field that year.

The people who win the Wolf Prize get a big ceremony and lots of attention from the media and other really smart people. And they also get a big chunk of money, which is a way of saying "thank you" for all the hard work and brilliant ideas they've shared with the world.

So basically, the Wolf Prize is like a really big, fancy pat on the back for grown-ups who are really good at doing important things.
