Women in classical music

Classical music is music that is very old and was made a long time ago by important people called composers. But there is one thing that might surprise you, and that's the fact that women have not been playing a big role in classical music for a long time.

You see, for a very long time in history, people thought that it was not good for women to learn to play music or even to be composers. They thought that women were not as smart as men and that they could not make beautiful music like men did. Even if some women were good at music, they were often not allowed to perform in public or get the recognition they deserved.

But things have changed now, and many women have become very good at classical music. They have worked very hard and overcome lots of challenges to show the world that they can be amazing musicians too.

Even though there are still not as many women in classical music as there are men, there are many great examples of women who have made a big impact on music history. Some of these women include Clara Schumann, who was a famous pianist and composer in the 1800s, and Hildegard von Bingen, who was a medieval composer and nun.

Nowadays, many girls and women are learning to play classical music and becoming great musicians. They are breaking down the old ideas that women cannot make beautiful music and showing that everyone, no matter their gender, can make amazing music if they work hard and believe in themselves.
