ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Women in venture capital

Imagine you have a lemonade stand and you want to make lots of money so you can buy more toys. You need someone to give you money so you can buy the things you need to make lemonade, like lemons and sugar. This is called a "venture capital firm". People who work for these firms are called "venture capitalists".

Now, sometimes girls and women have good ideas for lemonade stands, but they might have a hard time getting the money they need because there aren't a lot of women who work at the venture capital firms. This is called "gender diversity" because there aren't enough girls and women who are able to get involved in the money-making side of business.

But, when more girls and women become venture capitalists, it's better for everyone! Girls and women who have great ideas for businesses are more likely to get the money they need, and they can go on to make lots of money and buy lots of toys. It's important for everyone to have the chance to make their dreams come true.
