ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

World Wide Web Consortium

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an organization that sets rules and guidelines for how websites work. They make sure all websites work the same way, so when you go to a different website you know how to use it. For example, if you visit a website and you can use the back and forward buttons on your browser to move around the website, then it's because the W3C has made sure all websites work the same way. That way, we can all use them, no matter what website we visit.
