Wow and flutter measurement

Wow and flutter measurement is a way of figuring out how much sound is getting ‘wobbled’ or ‘washed out’ in a recording. Wow and flutter are when the music or sound gets too fast or too slow. It’s like when you make a silly voice and speed up or slow down the sounds. A way to measure how much of this ‘wobbling’ is happening is to look at the ‘waveforms’ – these are like a record of sound being made, just like different waves in the ocean. When you compare these waveforms at the end of the recording and at the beginning, you can learn how much the sound changed in between. And that’s how you measure the wow and flutter.
