ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Wrongful involuntary commitment

Wrongful involuntary commitment is when someone is forced to stay in a hospital or other institution against their will. This happens when a person is thought to be a danger to themselves or others, but that person does not actually present any danger, or when the person is not actually sick at all. This means that the person is put somewhere they don't want to be and kept there even though it's not necessary. This is wrong and should never happen.
