Yagō

Yagō is a very interesting word, and it comes from a long time ago in Japan. Imagine that you live in a big house, and your family is very rich. Your family has many servants who work for you and help keep your house clean and nice. But sometimes, your family needs to borrow some money or goods from other people, and they can't pay them back right away. In these situations, your family might have to give some of their servants to the person they borrowed from as a way to pay them back. This is what yagō means - it's like giving someone a servant as a form of payment.

Nowadays, we don't use yagō anymore, and it's not okay to have servants like this. But it's interesting to learn about how people used to live in Japan a long time ago, and how they used different ways to pay back debts.
