ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Yatagan

A yatagan is a type of sword that has a curved blade and a handle that is shaped like the letter "S". The blade is sharp and can be used for cutting things, while the handle is designed to be comfortable to hold onto.

Imagine taking a piece of metal and bending it slightly so that it makes a curved shape. Then, you sharpen it so that it is very sharp and can cut through things, like a knife. Next, you add a handle to it, but instead of a straight handle like most swords have, you make it shaped like a wavy line, or the letter "S". This makes it easier to grip and hold onto the sword, even when you're swinging it around.

Yatagans were usually used by soldiers in wars or battles because they were light and easy to use. They were popular in parts of Asia and Eastern Europe during the 16th to 19th centuries. Some people still use them today as decorative pieces or for traditional ceremonies.
