ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Yinyang

Yinyang is like a game of hide and seek between two opposite things. Imagine you have a ball that is black on one side and white on the other. You can't see both sides of the ball at the same time, but they both exist.

Yin is the black side of the ball and represents things that are quiet, slow, dark, and calm. Yang is the white side of the ball and represents things that are loud, fast, bright, and active.

The key is that yin and yang can never be completely separated. Every yin has a little bit of yang inside of it, and every yang has a little bit of yin inside of it. This is why there is a dot of the opposite color in each half of the yin yang symbol.

Think of it like a seesaw. If you have a really heavy thing on one side, the seesaw will go down on that side. But if you put a lighter thing on the other side, it will go up. Yin and yang are constantly moving and changing and trying to stay in balance, like a seesaw.

Some people believe that by understanding yinyang, we can find balance in our own lives too. Maybe you need to be more active, but also take some time to relax. Maybe you need to be more quiet, but also stand up for yourself when needed. It's all about finding the right balance of yin and yang for you.
